Achieve More with Zoe’s Proven Approach
With an average study score of 45, Zoe's tutoring combines expert knowledge, innovative methods, and personalised support to help students excel in VCE English Language.

Zoe's Approach
My track record (average client study score of 45) is unparalleled in the state. Why is that?
I am not just another raw 50 VCE English Language tutor - I actually teach for a living! This gives me access to people, resources and an understanding of ‘how the system works’ that your typical high performance tutor doesn’t have. But more importantly, I simply have a better understanding of the way students learn best.
Many tutors don’t know how to share their insights in a student-friendly way (in the scientific literature this is called the ‘curse of knowledge’) … rather than building up your knowledge from first principles, gradually increasing your autonomy in constructing responses, and providing lots of rich feedback and support.
Moreover, my original methods are groundbreaking and will optimise your result in the exam. Students often leave other leading tutors to come to me, and are really surprised by the powerful and innovative nature of what I teach.
Not only did I actually get these results myself, but I pride myself on my ability to replicate them in others.
Your Complete Guide to VCE Success

A clear roadmap
A complete, proven method to maximise your result through consistent work during the year.
By the end of the Term 3 exam prep rush, you'll simply be rehearsing strategies you've already mastered.

Methods you won’t see anywhere else
You will learn ingenious strategies to impress examiners and get reliably high scores that you won't find anywhere else because I invented them.
The best feedback
Arguably, the most valuable thing I offer is my detailed, specific, actionable feedback that meets students where they’re at.
You will always know what you need to do to improve, and it will make sense.
Great teaching
Highly interactive, engaging, structured classes with a systematic curriculum using research-substantiated methods of teaching.
As a professional resource developer for companies such as Edrolo, Cambridge University Press and others, my resources are also extremely comprehensive, succinct and grounded in how students learn.

Leverage the expertise of OTHERS, not just me
I have interviewed many 49 and 50 students when developing my program, and integrated their unique approaches and expertise. If something I suggest doesn’t gel with you, I have a range of other tried-and-tested approaches to trial instead.
I also have met and received professional learning from VCAA examiners (not to mention my experience working with students of VCAA examiners). Believe me, the difference in preferences can vary a LOT, and these experiences have been essential in refining an approach that appeals to a cross-section of VCE English Language examiners in 2025, not just the examiner who happened to mark my exam in 2020.
In addition, when I give you a 15/15 example of a VCAA sample essay or sample AC, it really is 15/15, and has been verified by a VCAA VCE English Language examiner.

Intelligent practice
Extensive VCE English Language resources and revision questions with scaffolds to help you succeed, which are gradually removed over time.

Experience with a range of schools
I have experience coaching students to receive top marks at schools with low-achieving cohorts (a lot harder than one would think), as well as top selective and grammar schools. Unlike some tutoring centres, I don’t prioritise the ‘big name’ schools - many of my best results come from less prestigious public schools and Catholic colleges.
Even if I haven’t worked with your teacher’s particular marking style before, I’ve seen so many at this point that I’m a very quick study. This is super important given teachers are not restricted to the “VCAA style” of marking and have a lot of freedom to exercise their own professional judgement. Where possible, I help you develop a flexible style that works for your own SACs during the year while preparing you for the end of year exam.
Contemporary examples
New, high-quality VCE English Language contemporary examples all the time, plus lots of experience working with them in class.
Students in 2024 were spoilt for choice, with over 100 great examples to pick from plus many spares. I already have amassed >50 for the 2025 cohort.

Common struggles in VCE English Language

Lack of clarity regarding what the examiners want, given the samples published in exam reports and in the current textbooks often would not receive a high A+ grade.

Prioritisation of metalanguage - “do I really need to know the ins and outs of clause structure?”

Discrepancy between how teachers (even examiners) mark SACs and how students tend to be marked in the exam (this can be huge).

Difference in rubric criteria for SACs compared to the exam, and what the VCE English Language assessment criteria and expected qualities actually mean in practice.

Completing the whole VCE English Language exam to a high standard in 2 hours.

Understanding the new study design, given the mainstream textbooks do not explicitly address some key aspects of the changes and there is still confusion amongst teachers.
